The Miami group

(01)

“Are We Dating The Same Guy” is a network of private Facebook groups, each one tied to a city or region. Women join the group for where they live, post a photo or a screenshot of a man they’ve met or matched with, and ask whether anyone else knows him. Here is how that works in Miami.

One big group and a ring of smaller ones

The main group here covers Miami, Fort Lauderdale and South Florida together, with about 70,000 members. Around it sits a ring of smaller groups: one centered on Brickell and Downtown, others for Miami and Broward, and others again for Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. A woman might belong to the main group, one of the smaller ones or several, depending on where she lives and who invited her.

That makes a Miami search wider than most. Checking the big group gives you an answer about that group only, and a post about you could be sitting in one of the smaller ones.

Neighborhoods with their own crowds

Brickell’s towers, Wynwood’s bars and galleries, Miami Beach across the causeways and the quieter, leafy streets of Coral Gables each draw different people. They tend to socialize within their own circles, and the apps are often what connects them. A man who lives in Brickell can easily match with a woman in Coral Gables or on the Beach, and she may belong to a group he has never heard of.

Visitors and seasonal residents

Miami has a constant flow of people who are only partly here. Visitors come for a long weekend, and seasonal residents spend the winter in the city and head north when the summer heat arrives. On the apps, that means plenty of profiles that appear for a while and then vanish. Women in the groups are used to posts about men who were in town briefly, and a seasonal resident can be posted about in a group he never sees.

Where Broward and Palm Beach overlap

The county lines between Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach count for very little in dating. Plenty of people live in Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood and come south for a night out, or live in Miami and date up the coast. Several of the groups reflect that by covering more than one county.

We start with the main South Florida group, then the surrounding groups that a post tends to travel into: the Miami-Broward and Fort Lauderdale groups, the Palm Beach groups and the ones covering South Florida as a whole. If you’ve also lived or dated somewhere else, put it in the order notes and we’ll widen the search.

One answer across all of them

With posts spread this widely, it’s hard to know where to look, and checking one group on its own leaves the question open. A single search across the groups gives you one clear answer instead of a partial one, and lets you get on with your week knowing what is out there.

Why you can’t check it yourself

(02)
01

It’s women-only

Admins screen people before they’re let in, and men are turned away. There is no visitor view and no way to browse from outside.

02

Nothing is public

Posts don’t show up on Google or in Facebook search outside the group. If you’re in a post, it exists only for the people inside.

03

Asking around tells people

Getting a friend to look means telling her why. Most men would rather not, and one person scrolling a busy group can easily miss a post.

What we search for Miami

(03)
  • The main Miami groupThen the groups around it, because posts are often shared on from one group to the next.
  • Groups covering Broward and Fort Lauderdale
  • Groups covering Palm Beach
  • South Florida-wide groups
  • The Are We Dating The Same Guy appThe network now has its own app. We search that too.

How we search

By your first name and age, by the photos you upload, and by any dating app handles or nicknames you give us. Photos matter most: many posts are just a screenshot of a profile with no name attached.

What you get back

A written report by email. If something is there, you get a direct link to the post, screenshots, the date it went up, and how much attention it has had. If nothing is there, we say so plainly and list everywhere we looked.

The Tea app in Miami

(04)

Tea is the other place men get posted, and it works differently from the groups. It’s one app for the whole country rather than a group per city, but every post is filed under a location. A post about you will usually sit under Miami, or under wherever she was when she wrote it.

Like the groups, Tea is women-only and identity-verified, so you can’t see it yourself. A Group Check doesn’t include Tea. If you want both searched, the Full Check covers Tea, the groups and your photos in one report.

Miami questions

(05)
There are so many Miami groups. How do you know where to look?

We start with the main South Florida group and then work through the smaller ones covering Brickell, Miami, Broward and Palm Beach. Telling us where you live and date on the order form helps us focus on the right ones.

I only spend winters in Miami. Is a check still useful?

It can be. Seasonal residents do get posted about in Miami groups, and a post can stay up long after you’ve gone home for the year. Add your other home on the order form and we’ll include the groups covering it.

I live in Fort Lauderdale but go out in Miami. Which groups apply to me?

Probably groups on both sides of the county line. Several groups already cover Miami and Broward together, and we search those alongside the Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach ones.
