Largest group in Facebook search: Are We Dating The Same Guy? | Jacksonville / St. Augustine / Northeast FL · about 58K members
“Are We Dating The Same Guy” is a network of private Facebook groups, each one tied to a city or region. Women join the group for where they live, post a photo or a screenshot of a man they’ve met or matched with, and ask whether anyone else knows him. Here is how that works in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville covers an unusually large area. The city takes in most of Duval County, and driving from the Westside to the beaches can feel like driving to another town. The main group reflects that reach. It’s named for Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Northeast Florida, and it has about 58,000 members.
A group that size brings together women who might never cross paths in person. Someone in Orange Park and someone in Ponte Vedra can belong to the same group and see the same posts, and a man who has dated across the area can come up in front of all of them at once.
The beach towns of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach have their own nightlife and their own crowd, and a lot of first dates happen there on weekends. Closer in, Riverside and San Marco face each other across the St. Johns River, each with its own restaurants and bars, while newer neighborhoods keep spreading south toward St. Johns County. Most people drive everywhere, and a date can easily mean half an evening on the road. The University of North Florida on the Southside and the large hospitals around the city add students, nurses and medical staff, many of them working shifts that make the apps the easiest way to meet someone.
NAS Jacksonville on the river and Naval Station Mayport at its mouth bring a large Navy population to the city, and Kings Bay sits just over the Georgia line. Navy life shapes dating here. Sailors deploy, come back, change commands and move on, and relationships often begin or end around those dates.
That rhythm can leave a man unsure what was said while he was away. A post doesn’t depend on him being in town, and it doesn’t disappear because he’s been at sea.
St. Augustine is named in the group itself, and the drive down I-95 or along A1A puts it well within dating range. To the north, towns in South Georgia such as St. Marys and Kingsland are close enough that some people date across the state line as a matter of course. Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island have a smaller scene of their own, and Orange Park and Fleming Island anchor the suburbs to the southwest in Clay County.
We start with the main Northeast Florida group, then check the other groups a Jacksonville post would plausibly reach, covering the beach communities, St. Johns County and South Georgia. If you were stationed somewhere before Jacksonville, or have dated elsewhere in Florida, give us those details when you check out and we’ll search that area as well.
You’ll have a written answer within 24 hours, and the question stops being something you have to carry around.
Admins screen people before they’re let in, and men are turned away. There is no visitor view and no way to browse from outside.
Posts don’t show up on Google or in Facebook search outside the group. If you’re in a post, it exists only for the people inside.
Getting a friend to look means telling her why. Most men would rather not, and one person scrolling a busy group can easily miss a post.
By your first name and age, by the photos you upload, and by any dating app handles or nicknames you give us. Photos matter most: many posts are just a screenshot of a profile with no name attached.
A written report by email. If something is there, you get a direct link to the post, screenshots, the date it went up, and how much attention it has had. If nothing is there, we say so plainly and list everywhere we looked.
Tea is the other place men get posted, and it works differently from the groups. It’s one app for the whole country rather than a group per city, but every post is filed under a location. A post about you will usually sit under Jacksonville, or under wherever she was when she wrote it.
Like the groups, Tea is women-only and identity-verified, so you can’t see it yourself. A Group Check doesn’t include Tea. If you want both searched, the Full Check covers Tea, the groups and your photos in one report.
A researcher searches the groups by hand and sends you a plain yes or no, with the evidence if there is any. We never post, comment or contact anyone, and nobody can see that you searched.
Yes. The main group already covers Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Northeast Florida, so St. Augustine is part of the starting point. We also look at the nearby groups that overlap with it.
It’s possible, since a post doesn’t depend on you being around. We search for you across older posts as well as recent ones, and any earlier duty stations you give us go into the search as well.
Most likely both. Women on either side of the state line often date across it, so we search the Jacksonville group and the groups covering South Georgia in the same check.
