Largest group in Facebook search: Are We Dating The Same Guy? | Bridgeport / Stamford / Norwalk CT · about 26K members
“Are We Dating The Same Guy” is a network of private Facebook groups, each one tied to a city or region. Women join the group for where they live, post a photo or a screenshot of a man they’ve met or matched with, and ask whether anyone else knows him. Here is how that works in Stamford.
Stamford’s group is named for three cities, Bridgeport, Stamford and Norwalk, and in practice it covers most of Fairfield County. It has about 26,000 members. Greenwich, Darien, Westport, Fairfield and Trumbull all fall within its reach, and the women in it can live in very different towns while seeing the same profiles. For a county with this many separate towns, one group doing most of the work is useful to know.
Fairfield County runs on Metro-North. Trains on the New Haven Line stop in Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport and Bridgeport on the way to Grand Central, and a lot of people here spend the working day in Manhattan. Dating follows the commute. A man in Stamford might meet women in the city after work or in Westchester on the way home, and the woman he met might post in a New York group rather than this one.
Branch lines run up to New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury, so even the inland towns are tied into the same rail map, and a Friday-night date can just as easily be in Manhattan as in the next town over.
Stamford has its own office towers, and Greenwich is well known for investment firms, so plenty of people work in finance without commuting into the city at all. Long hours and packed calendars push much of the dating onto the apps, where a woman might know a man only through a few messages and his photos. That’s often all a post contains, which is why we search with your photos and don’t rely on your name alone.
Outside work, the newer apartment buildings around downtown Stamford and Harbor Point house a lot of younger professionals, and South Norwalk’s restaurants are a common choice for a first date.
The New York line sits right at the edge of Greenwich, and the towns on either side share restaurants, train platforms and social circles. Port Chester and Rye are next door, and White Plains is a short drive. People cross that line constantly, so for a Fairfield County man the Westchester groups can matter almost as much as the Connecticut ones. To the east, Bridgeport and the towns beyond it bring the New Haven groups into range too.
We start with the Bridgeport / Stamford / Norwalk group, then search the groups covering Westchester, New York City and the rest of Connecticut, the ones a post about a man here most often moves between. Anywhere else you’ve lived or dated can go in the notes when you order, and we’ll add the groups for it.
It takes the question off your mind, one way or the other.
Admins screen people before they’re let in, and men are turned away. There is no visitor view and no way to browse from outside.
Posts don’t show up on Google or in Facebook search outside the group. If you’re in a post, it exists only for the people inside.
Getting a friend to look means telling her why. Most men would rather not, and one person scrolling a busy group can easily miss a post.
By your first name and age, by the photos you upload, and by any dating app handles or nicknames you give us. Photos matter most: many posts are just a screenshot of a profile with no name attached.
A written report by email. If something is there, you get a direct link to the post, screenshots, the date it went up, and how much attention it has had. If nothing is there, we say so plainly and list everywhere we looked.
Tea is the other place men get posted, and it works differently from the groups. It’s one app for the whole country rather than a group per city, but every post is filed under a location. A post about you will usually sit under Stamford, or under wherever she was when she wrote it.
Like the groups, Tea is women-only and identity-verified, so you can’t see it yourself. A Group Check doesn’t include Tea. If you want both searched, the Full Check covers Tea, the groups and your photos in one report.
A researcher searches the groups by hand and sends you a plain yes or no, with the evidence if there is any. We never post, comment or contact anyone, and nobody can see that you searched.
Possibly a New York City group, the Fairfield County one or a Westchester group, depending on where the woman lives. A Stamford check covers all three, so you don’t have to work out which.
Not necessarily. Your photos do most of the work, since posts often show a photo and a first name rather than a full name. Give us whichever names and nicknames you’ve used on the apps and we’ll search with those.
Yes. Bridgeport is in the main group’s name, and towns like Fairfield, Stratford and Shelton fall within it. Beyond that, we include the New Haven groups for men who also date along the shoreline.
