The Los Angeles “Are We Dating The Same Guy” group is private and women-only, so you can’t look for yourself. We search it for you, along with the groups around it, and email you a written report within 24 hours.
“Are We Dating The Same Guy” is a network of private Facebook groups, each one tied to a city or region. Women join the group for where they live, post a photo or a screenshot of a man they’ve met or matched with, and ask whether anyone else knows him. Here is how that works in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles spreads across a county bigger than some states, and its group reflects that. Members live everywhere from Santa Monica to Pasadena and from the Valley to Long Beach, and many of them rarely visit each other’s neighborhoods. A dating app set to a 25-mile radius can cover all of it.
The result is a group where the woman posting and the women reading might be an hour’s drive apart. That’s part of why posts are photo-led. She’s asking strangers across the region whether anyone else has met the same man.
LA dating runs on driving distance, and people date across county lines all the time. A man who lives in Silver Lake, works in Culver City and has matches in Orange County could be posted in more than one group. Nearby areas often have women’s groups of their own, and screenshots get shared between them.
Work plays a part too. If your job puts your face in public, on stage, on screen or on social media, your photos are easier to find and reuse. That makes it more likely that a post is matched to the right person, and more worth knowing about.
We start with the main Los Angeles group, then search the surrounding groups where a post about you would realistically appear, along with the network’s app. If you split your time with somewhere else, like San Diego, San Francisco or Las Vegas, add it on the order form.
If something is there, the report shows you exactly what: a direct link to the post, screenshots, when it went up and how much reaction it has had. What you do next is up to you. Often the best move is to do nothing at all, and we’ll say so plainly when that’s the case.
Admins screen people before they’re let in, and men are turned away. There is no visitor view and no way to browse from outside.
Posts don’t show up on Google or in Facebook search outside the group. If you’re in a post, it exists only for the people inside.
Getting a friend to look means telling her why. Most men would rather not, and one person scrolling a busy group can easily miss a post.
By your first name and age, by the photos you upload, and by any dating app handles or nicknames you give us. Photos matter most: many posts are just a screenshot of a profile with no name attached.
A written report by email. If something is there, you get a direct link to the post, screenshots, the date it went up, and how much attention it has had. If nothing is there, we say so plainly and list everywhere we looked.
Tea is the other place men get posted, and it works differently from the groups. It’s one app for the whole country rather than a group per city, but every post is filed under a location. A post about you will usually sit under Los Angeles, or under wherever she was when she wrote it.
Like the groups, Tea is women-only and identity-verified, so you can’t see it yourself. A Group Check doesn’t include Tea. If you want both searched, the Full Check covers Tea, the groups and your photos in one report.
A researcher searches the groups by hand and sends you a plain yes or no, with the evidence if there is any. We never post, comment or contact anyone, and nobody can see that you searched.
It depends where you date. Women from across Southern California join the LA group, and nearby areas often have groups of their own. Tell us where you live and date, and we’ll search the groups where a post about you could realistically appear.
It can. The more places your photos are public, the easier they are to screenshot and repost. If you’d like to know where else they’ve ended up, the Image Check searches for that, and the Full Check includes it.
That’s common. Many posts are just a profile screenshot and a question. We search with your photos as well as your name, so a post without a name can still be found and shown in your report.
