“Are We Dating The Same Guy” is a network of private Facebook groups, each one tied to a city or region. Women join the group for where they live, post a photo or a screenshot of a man they’ve met or matched with, and ask whether anyone else knows him. Here is how that works in Chicago.
Chicago’s group draws in women from across the city and well beyond it. Someone in Lincoln Park and someone in Naperville can both be members, and to a dating app they’re often looking at the same men. If your radius covers the North Side, the western suburbs and the edge of Northwest Indiana, so does the pool of women who might post about you.
That spread matters. A post is written by one person, but the women commenting under it might live forty miles apart, and a screenshot can move from the main group into a suburban or statewide one within a day.
A lot of Chicago dating happens between neighborhoods rather than inside them. People match across the river, meet halfway in the Loop or the West Loop, and ride home on different L lines. So the woman who posts about a date often has no mutual friends with the man, and she asks the group instead. It’s also why posts here lean on photos. She may only know a first name and whatever was on the profile.
The Chicago group has been in the news more than once, and attention like that tends to bring a wave of new members. More members means more eyes on every post, including older ones that get pushed back to the top when someone new comments.
For a man who lives or dates in Chicago, we start with the main group and then follow where posts realistically travel: the groups covering the suburbs, Northwest Indiana and Illinois as a whole. If you’ve dated in Milwaukee or spend your weekends somewhere else, tell us when you order and we’ll include it.
Men usually start wondering after a tip-off. A friend mentions seeing a photo, a match goes quiet after asking odd questions, or a date says she “looked you up.” Others want to know before something matters, like a new relationship getting serious. Either way, knowing beats guessing, and a clean result is a real answer too.
Admins screen people before they’re let in, and men are turned away. There is no visitor view and no way to browse from outside.
Posts don’t show up on Google or in Facebook search outside the group. If you’re in a post, it exists only for the people inside.
Getting a friend to look means telling her why. Most men would rather not, and one person scrolling a busy group can easily miss a post.
By your first name and age, by the photos you upload, and by any dating app handles or nicknames you give us. Photos matter most: many posts are just a screenshot of a profile with no name attached.
A written report by email. If something is there, you get a direct link to the post, screenshots, the date it went up, and how much attention it has had. If nothing is there, we say so plainly and list everywhere we looked.
Tea is the other place men get posted, and it works differently from the groups. It’s one app for the whole country rather than a group per city, but every post is filed under a location. A post about you will usually sit under Chicago, or under wherever she was when she wrote it.
Like the groups, Tea is women-only and identity-verified, so you can’t see it yourself. A Group Check doesn’t include Tea. If you want both searched, the Full Check covers Tea, the groups and your photos in one report.
A researcher searches the groups by hand and sends you a plain yes or no, with the evidence if there is any. We never post, comment or contact anyone, and nobody can see that you searched.
Possibly, and possibly in a suburban group as well. Women join the group for where they live or date, and plenty of suburban women join the Chicago one too. We search both, so you don’t need to work out which applies.
The number of dates doesn’t decide it. One date, or even a match you never met, is enough for a post. If something has made you wonder, a check gives you a definite answer.
Yes. Tell us on the order form where else you’ve lived or dated recently, and we’ll include the groups covering those areas in your search.
